Anti-Israeli decision in Italy: The management company of the TTG tourism fair in the city of Rimini announced that the Israeli booth will not be allowed to operate this year because it does not meet the conditions for participation. The Iranian-born mayor noted that the war in Gaza and the fear of demonstrations were among the factors that led to the decision

Israel will not participate in the TTG International Tourism Fair, which is held annually in the city of Rimini, Italy. The company that manages the fair, Rimini Fiera, informed the Israeli Tourism Bureau over the weekend that it no longer meets the conditions for participation in the event. The company stressed that the decision was made in agreement with the municipality of Rimini, where the event is taking place, and with the authorities of the Emilia-Romagna region.

It is one of the most important events on the calendar of the global tourism industry. Over the course of three days, the Italian city becomes a center of attraction for thousands of travel agents, airlines, hoteliers, country representatives and entrepreneurs from around the world, who come to present innovations, create collaborations and identify future trends in the industry. Beyond a professional fair, it is also a strategic arena in which the business relationships that shape the tourism movement in the coming years are built.
"The enormous tension that is growing hour after hour in Italy over the Tel Aviv attack on Gaza, has prompted the region and the municipality to ask to reconsider the presence of the Israeli booth"
The mayor of Iran, Rimini Jamil Sadegolvad, who was born in Iran, posted a tweet on the X network in which he referred to the circumstances that led to the decision. "At the tourism fair, which will open its doors in Rimini from October 8 to 10, the Israeli booth will not be among the exhibitors. Security concerns, the risk of terror attacks and protests, but also the enormous tension growing hour after hour in Italy over the Tel Aviv attack on Gaza, prompted the region and the municipality to ask to reconsider the presence of the Israeli booth."

Israel's ambassador to Italy, Jonathan Peled, wrote on Network X: "The decision to exclude the Israel Tourism Board from the TTG Fair in Rimini represents another infiltration of political ideology, which takes advantage of every opportunity to exploit the attack on Israel for election propaganda purposes, regardless of the serious effects that such decisions have on the cultural, religious and business relations between Italy and our country."
The ambassador also wrote: "Every year, hundreds of thousands of Italians visit Israel for work, tourism or religion. Israel also represents a significant influx of tourism and business for Italy. We strongly condemn this step and the continued aggressive attitude toward Israel, which fuels the anti-Semitic demonstrations we are witnessing these days and strengthens the terrorist strategy of Hamas and other related organizations."
The Israeli Ministry of Tourism said: "The Ministry of Tourism views the cancellation of participation with great severity. This step does not reflect the position of the Italian government or the Italian people. Italy's Minister of Tourism and other ministers condemned the decision and stood by Israel. In addition, upon learning of the cancellation, key figures in the local tourism industry suggested that the Ministry be involved in various activities during the fair, out of trust and understanding of the importance of promoting the Israeli tourism product. The Ministry of Tourism regularly participates in international tourism fairs, and the global tourism industry recognizes the importance of Israel's presence in these fairs. The firm is consistently working to strengthen ties with our partners in Italy, and every year we host journalists, travel agents and leaders of religious communities, with the aim of encouraging inbound tourism from Italy."
